Mirage3D was founded in 1999, by Robin Sip, who has been working in planetarium show production since 1988. Most of the experience was gained in the Omniversum Space Theatre in the Hague, later as well at E&S in Salt Lake City, and the London planetarium. Mirage3D focusses on the creation of full dome video planetarium shows, and content for planetariums worldwide. These shows, immerse the audience in a true 360 degrees projected computer generated image. The Mirage3D productions, are popular scientific shows, that appeal to a large general audience. They are motivational journeys through time and space, covering a wide range of natural sciences. Our first full dome production: Origins of Life is one of the first full dome shows in the World from which all scenes are completely generated with 3D computer graphics. Our second full dome production: Dawn of the Space Age is available in december 2006. Our mission is to increase photorealism for full dome content, by going to extremes in getting the correct source data, and source images for creating photorealistic textures. We take it as the utmost importance to deliver quality, and therefore spend a considerable amount of time on constructing, and meticulous fine tuning all of the scenes. Our content is rendered at a minimal resolution of 3200 x 3200 pixels, and up to 4000 x 4000 pixels per frame. Therefore it is possible to convert our content to IMAX film as well. At the international planetarium conference (IPS 2004) in Valencia, Spain, Mirage3D was present with the Mirage3D Dome, in the exhibition area, demonstrating both Origins of Life , and WorldVision. Our productions are shown at all the major planetarium conferences in the world. |
